Philadelphia Calls for Gas Drilling Ban

An increasing number of local governments are standing up to take control of their fate when it comes to clean air and clean water.  Philadelphia is the latest, joining New York, Pittsburgh, and many smaller communities in Pennsylvania and around the country.  Until Federal EPA studies are completed later in 2012, Philadelphia “city officials called for at least a temporary ban on new wells in the watershed that serves the city’s taps, federal and state authorities to tighten drilling regulations”,  and to “avoid buying gas that comes from the Marcellus Shale.”
