Action Alert: New Online Public Comment Letter to DRBC – Send & Share
Take action now and get your comments in before April 12 at midnight to beat the April 15 deadline for the DRBC public comment period.
Protecting Our Waters (POW) has a new way for you to send your comments to the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC). Please use the link below to insist that it’s premature to release any regulations on fracking in the Delaware Watershed and that the moratorium needs to stay in place.
This is especially the case after the latest breaking news leaked to ProPublica. A new directive has been issued to Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) inspectors and enforcement officials instructing them to not issue any violations against Marcellus Shale developers without first sending it up the chain for rubber-stamping by top officials.
No cumulative impact studies have been completed yet. The industry is exempt from key provisions of the Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Superfund laws and others under the Halliburton Loophole. Greenhouse gas emissions from this industry are going unregulated…and the methane which is pouring out of pipelines, compressors, and wells is a much more potent greenhouse gas than CO2. Toxic and radioactive wastewater is being discharged into Pennsylvania’s waterways. And now this?
