Laundromats to drillers: Wash your wear elsewhere!
Drilling mud, unknown chemicals, and grease are all causing serious problems for local laundromats in the Marcellus Shale regions across Pennsylvania. Worker’s clothing is clogging up machines and soiling other people’s laundry.
“August Walters, owner of the Dallas Laundromat, said ‘I had two or three guys come in; that was it. I caught on quick. Whatever was in the clothes, it was hard to get out of the machines. Grease comes out, but I don’t know what they’ve got. … I don’t know what chemical is in those clothes, but it was a brownish film’.”
