CBS Evening News April 12, 2011 Oil & gas industry spills happen “all the time”

April 13, 2011

Truman Burnett lives in Bradford County, PA and it was a Marcellus Shale gas drilling operation which killed all the life in his pond.  Truman’s story is referred to in this national CBS Evening News report.

A CBS News investigation reveals that dangerous spills and leaks by the U.S. oil and gas industry are happening all the time.  Armen Keteyian reports that a six-month CBS investigation found (not including the massive BP spill in the Gulf almost a year ago) at least 6,500 spills, leaks, fires or explosions at wells and pipelines nationwide in 2010…34 million gallons of crude oil and other potentially toxic chemicals…three times the amount of the Exxon Valdez spill.
