Exxon water withdrawal tabled at DRBC

May 11, 2011

Your letter-writing and phone-calling is paying off! Tracy Carluccio of Delaware Riverkeeper Network reports:

DRBC tabled any action on the XTO docket today saying they had received 7100 emails and another couple hundred letters (as of last night) asking them to do so.

They voted at 6:00 pm at the close of the Public Hearing unaminously to keep the public record open from now through a public hearing to be held in the Broome County NY region. Date and place to be announced.

It was well worth the 5 hours spent at the DRBC Oquaga Creek Hearing, listening to compelling statements from concerned Delaware River Basin residents from NY … Broome Co area, Brooklyn… as well as from Pa & NJ…, Damascus, Doylestown, Lambertville. There is tremendous hope for a cleaner energy future, if we continue to work together to make our voices heard in Harrisburg & in Washington! Numbers are what we need, so get out to Harrisburg on June 7 for Lobby Day, at the Capitol. Schedule an appointment to speak with your legislator! Go to Penn Environment’s or Marcellus Protest’s sites to read more. Go to Delaware Riverkeeper’s site to read full press release about yesterday’s DRBC hearing, and their decision to table a decision on the XTO Oquaga Creek water withdrawal request.
