Protect Our People, Not Our Polluters: Protest when Ridge comes to Philly Wednesday May 18!
Protest Wednesday May 18 in Philadelphia: Tom Ridge, former PA governor now working for the shale gas drilling industry lobbying and PR entity Marcellus Shale Coalition on a $900,000 contract, delivers pro-fracking talk at noon at the Doubletree Hotel on May 18th.
What: Speak out for AWE — Air, Water, Earth — the basis of human health, being continually degraded by fracking in PA
Why: People are being seriously hurt throughout shale country, having their lives turned upside down without being able to get justice from large corporations. Those corporations, including Range Resources which is responsible for contamination in Parker, Texas as well as southwestern PA, are visiting our town next Wednesday. But here in Philadelphia we value human health and democracy, not profiteering and secrecy.
Protecting Our Waters encourages everyone to dress up in your finest business wear for this Chamber of Commerce event:
“Marcellus Shale: Opportunities and Challenges Featuring the Honorable Tom Ridge,” from 11 AM – 2 PM Weds. May 18, 2011:
