Shoutouts: Philadelphia Weekly and City Paper

December 3, 2011

Gas Tanked: Anti-fracking advocates see stalled DRBC vote as a victory” appears in the current Philadelphia Weekly (dated November 30th-December 6th). Protecting Our Waters director Iris Marie Bloom gave extensive background information to PW’s star reporter on fracking, Ada Kulesza. Ada was supported by her editors in a trip to shale country that revealed the suffering of those directly impacted, living with toxic spills on their land and unable to drink their well water. Thanks for her hard work may be sent to her at akulesza@philadelphiaweekly.com, and news tips sent to her or to philadelphiaweekly.com.

Philadelphia City Paper also continues to provide excellent coverage. A recent in-depth cover story featured threats to the Delaware River, especially fracking. City Paper also put out this post, “Anti-fracking groups do lunch with the Army Corps,” about our recent press conference and delivery of 73,910 letters opposing fracking to the federal representative on the Delaware River Basin Commission. Both of these recent posts and articles in City Paper were written by Samantha Melamed, who has another piece about fracking coming out soon. Notes of encouragement and news tips may be sent to her: samantha@citypaper.net.
