Great video, press: Rallies against HB 1950/SB 1100 — Three rallies down, three to go!
Spirited protests on a serious issue are highlighted with this press coverage: “Gas drilling protesters rally outside Tomlinson’s office.” Our coalition is protesting the stripping of municipal rights to limit gas drilling through zoning or referenda to ban gas drilling, as well as the step backwards in environmental protections — particularly the ludicrously tiny setbacks embedded in HB 1950 / SB 1100. Three rallies have taken place today and yesterday, with three to go tomorrow outside the offices of Sen. McIlhinney, Sen. Rafferty and Sen. Erickson (details below and background here).
Below is an excerpt from the PhillyBurbs.com coverage; please check out the video to see Tracy Carluccio dressed as Santa (“don’t give Pennsylvania away to the drillers for Christmas” is the point!), hear passing motorists honk enthusiastically as Protecting Our Waters Associate Director abe (Mr. Alex Allen) holds up a POW “no fracking” sign, and listen to the geologist John Fowler.
Nearly two dozen protesters held up anti-drilling signs and waved to passing motorists outside the office of state Sen. Tommy Tomlinson, R-6, along busy westbound Street Road in Bensalem.
“I think it’s important that Sen. Tomlinson is aware that people are concerned. It is an issue for us right now and also an issue for our children,” said protester John Fowler, a Wrightstown resident. “We are the stewards of the land.”
