Action Alert: Hands Across Riverdale May 31-June 1
Join Protecting Our Waters and allies in standing with the families of the Riverdale Mobile Home Park at 7 Riverdale Lane in Jersey Shore, PA starting at 6pm this Thursday evening, May 31, into Friday, June 1, to bear witness and object to Aqua America’s assault on the neighborhood in the name of fracking profits. A press conference will be held at 7am this Friday, as Aqua plans to start construction on a three million gallon per day water withdrawal facility located where the homes of the families of Riverdale now stand. Aqua has refused to negotiate, instead preferring to evict the Riverdale community, expecting the residents to cower and cave. At Hands Across Riverdale starting this Thursday, we will show Aqua that we stand up for our neighbors in the face of injustices committed by the fracking industry and its bedfellows.
We demand that Aqua:
- Cease construction and allow the residents of Riverdale Mobile Home Park to stay in their community
- Provide the residents with just compensation for the harms already done to them
- Allow the residents who have left in the face of imminent eviction to return to their homes
If you cannot go, know that there are many ways to help stop Aqua, stave off the refugee crisis, and protect the Susquehanna River, including joining hundreds of other citizens in writing Aqua directly. Tell Aqua our human rights will not be trampled.
