StateImpact Pennsylvania Covers Bill McKibben’s Booking for SGO

September 10, 2012

Susan Phillips at StateImpact Pennsylvania, NPR’s nationwide news blog on fracking, has written an article about Bill McKibben’s upcoming appearance at Shale Gas Outrage. With StateImpact’s wide-ranging audience, this is a great bit of press for Shale Gas Outrage.

Writes Phillips,

As a testament to how things have changed over the past year, it won’t just be the industry folks who have high profile speakers. This year, author Bill McKibben, who is best known for writing the first popularly accessible book on climate change, will speak to the outraged unconventioneers.

The article doesn’t quite go far enough in portraying fractivists’ and scientists’ problems with fracking, saying only that “the entire gas drilling process creates harmful emissions that may be worse, if not the same, as coal,” but it’s a good short read nonetheless. Phillips also mentions McKibben’s recent Rolling Stone article, Global Warming’s Terrifying New Math, a good but, well, terrifying read.

And today, EcoWatch reposted Protecting Our Waters’ and Delaware Riverkeeper‘s recent news bulletin on the water impact of fracking. You can read it here.

If you want to help us spread the word about all of the problems with fracking–the permanent damage to land, water, animals, human health, and climate–come to Shale Gas Outrage on September 20th and 21st!
